Woman Accused Of DWI After Crashing Vehicle With Child Passengers Into Tow Truck In Roosevelt

A woman is facing multiple charges after police said she drove while intoxicated with two children in the vehicle and crashed into a parked tow truck on Long Island.

The crash happened in Roosevelt at Babylon Turnpike and Cumberland Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police said a 2010 Mercedes Benz crashed into a parked, unoccupied tow truck.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman holding a 4-year-old girl who was bleeding from a laceration to her forehead, and they saw a 3-year-old boy standing with her with no visible injuries, NCPD reported.

Following an investigation the driver, identified as 31-year-old Sheila Jadick, of Westbury, was arrested and taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

The children were taken to a hospital, and they were released into the custody of a family member, police said.

NCPD said Jadick is charged with:

  • Two counts of DWI - Leandra's Law
  • One count of DWI
  • Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child

She is set to be arraigned on Monday, June 27, police said.
